In-Situ Remediation

After completing the investigation of the oil spill in Chain of Ponds, Maine and the removal of soil associated with this release, Beacon and the Maine DEP agreed that an injection program of a oxygen-based chemical to enhance the degradation of the remaining oil. Well and Manhole Abandonment – Former Great Northern Paper Facility

Beacon was contracted by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP) to properly abandon manholes, monitoring wells, and standpipes associated with two former lagoons which were used by Great Northern Paper in Millinocket.  Utilizing flowable fill with concrete, Beacon and its subcontractor removed and filled the 14 monitoring wells, 9 standpipes, and 4 manholes.  All this was accomplished in less than three days and on budget.
