Owls Head Soil Remediation

Beacon was contracted by the Town of Owls Head to oversee the remediation of soil from a release of oil due to illegal dumping of oils on an abandoned piece of property. Large piles of trash and wood were on the property which had to be removed prior to being able to access this soil.

Vapor Barrier

Beacon has been subcontracted by the MEDEP to oversee the cleanup of a heating oil spill beneath a trailer in South Monmouth. Once the concrete slab has been cleaned and sealed a vapor barrier will be installed under the home and completed indoor air samples to verify its effectiveness.

Brownfields Investigation

Beacon was selected by the MEDEP to complete an investigation of a former circuit board manufacturing facility in Sanford, Maine. We completed a Quality Assurance Project Plan prior to conducting the fieldwork. We oversaw the installation of ten monitoring wells and completed soil and groundwater sampling. Once the analytical results were received we completed the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Report and an Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives to determine the most cost effective cleanup option for the property. In-Situ Remediation

After completing the investigation of the oil spill in Chain of Ponds, Maine and the removal of soil associated with this release, Beacon and the Maine DEP agreed that an injection program of a oxygen-based chemical to enhance the degradation of the remaining oil.
