Mercury Spill Sampling

Beacon is assisting with wipe and air sampling in conjunction with the response at a residence to a large mercury spill in New Hampshire.  Approximately 4 pounds of elemental Mercury was accidentally released to a basement when a bottle was dropped on the floor.  A response contractor completed the cleanup and brought in Beacon to complete the post remediation sampling.  We are willing to travel to complete sampling to assist in remediation activities.  Call us or email us with your

Soil Sampling Under Bridges

Beacon completed a Soil and Erosion Control Plan and soil sampling prior to the blasting and repainting of two bridges in Yarmouth, Maine on behalf of a painting contractor.  The Maine DOT had special requirements based on the two bridges being located over the Pleasant River.  Sampling was performed using a hand auger and once the project is done, Beacon will go out and collect post painting samples to determine if lead impacts occurred during this phase of the work.

MEDEP Announces Beacon has been added to Prequalified Consultants Lists

Beacon Environmental Consultants, LLC has been notified that we have been added to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection’s (MEDEP) Prequalified Consultants lists for Hydrogeological, Brownfields, and Vapor Intrusion Investigations and we now have a State Contract.  We look forward to working with the MEDEP to assist municipalities and individuals solve their environmental situations.

Vapor Intrusion Presentation

Beacon’s President gave a presentation about performing vapor intrusion (VI) investigations on February 2, 2017 at the offices of Pierce Atwood.  The presentation was part of a half day event arranged by Alpha Analytical Laboratory as a portion of their on-going Technical Series Programs.

Firing Range Investigation

Beacon is assisting a municipality in determining lead levels and corrective action steps for an indoor firing range.  Firing ranges are susceptible to lead contamination if proper ventilation and periodic cleaning is not performed.  We can develop bid specification packages to assist in selection of a remediation contractor to reduce costs and ensure that the cleanup is completed to the required levels for reuse.
