Beacon completed a day of geologic oversight of soil borings at a residence in Milo, Maine. An overfill of an on-site above ground storage tank resulted in the release of kerosene which migrated toward a stream. The Maine DEP responded and provided temporary response efforts to stop the continued migration of the kerosene. Unfortunately, the kerosene appeared to have made it to the stream. In order to determine the extent of the potential impacts, the Maine DEP requested that a hydrogeological investigation be performed. Beacon oversaw eight soil borings between the release point and the stream. Two small areas of impacted soil were documented, but the stream appeared to not be impacted.
